University of Waterloo Secures Seventh Place Globally for Entrepreneurship

The University of Waterloo has been placed seventh worldwide in PitchBook’s latest university rankings for entrepreneurship. The result represents a significant achievement for Canada, as Waterloo is the first Canadian university to break into the global top 10 in the ranking.

Waterloo’s strong performance also makes it the highest-ranked university outside the United States, with only one other non-U.S. institution joining the global top 10. The ranking focuses on the entrepreneurial success of undergraduate alumni, particularly founders whose companies have attracted venture capital investment.

A total of 1,303 Waterloo alumni were identified as founders, helping the university rise 11 positions from its previous ranking of 18th. The broader results also demonstrate Canada’s growing presence in entrepreneurship, with eight Canadian universities securing places in the global top 100. These include University of Toronto, McGill University, Western University, the University of British Columbia, Queen’s University, the University of Calgary, and York University.
