5,000 candidates have received Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in the French-language proficiency category draw. To be considered for the 19th August 2026 draw the minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score required was 382, down from 391 in the previous French-language draw on August 6. This is the lowest CRS cutoff for a French-language Express Entry draw since March 2025. To qualify for the latest selection, applicants needed an Express Entry profile with a CRS score of at least 382 and to have created their profile before 6:34 p.m. UTC on March 1, 2026.
French-language candidates have received considerable attention in Canada’s 2026 immigration selections. The latest round brings the total number of French-language ITAs issued this year to 50,500, following 10 such draws. Overall, IRCC has issued 119,865 ITAs through Express Entry draws in 2026 so far.
The lower cutoff could provide renewed opportunities for French-speaking candidates who previously fell below the competitive CRS range. An ITA is only an invitation to apply and candidates are required to submit a complete application and satisfy all permanent residence requirements.
