1,550 candidates have been invited to apply for provincial nomination by Alberta in a series of seven draws held through the multiple streams of the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). The draws were held between May 20 and June 2, 2026. The draws focused on workers in high-demand sectors such as technology, manufacturing, agriculture, construction, healthcare, and hospitality.
Of the different streams, the Alberta Opportunity Stream accounted for 64.1% of all invites. The other streams in which the draws were conducted were the Rural Renewal Stream, the Tourism and Hospitality Stream, Dedicated Health Care Pathways (EE + non-EE), and several pathways under the Alberta Express Entry Stream. The May 20 draw marked Alberta’s first selection draw specifically aimed at skilled trades professionals in the construction sector. The draws highlight the province’s efforts to address labour shortages in key industries.
As per the provincial data, Alberta has now held 43 immigration draws in 2026 and has invited at least 7,819 candidates to apply for provincial nomination. Of the 6,403 available nomination spaces, the province has used 2,587.
Through targeted draws Alberta seeks to attract skilled workers who can contribute to the economic growth and meet the workforce demands in the different sectors.
