On 11 May 2026, the first Express Entry draw of May 2026 was held. The draw held under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) invited 380 candidates to apply for permanent residence. The eligible candidates were those who had a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score requirement of 798 and who had submitted their Express Entry profile before January 7, 2026, at 5:23 a.m. UTC. The eligibility requirements indicate the high competition of PNP draws.
PNP draws particularly target candidates who have received nominations from Canadian provinces or territories. Candidates with a provincial nomination get 600 additional points added to their profile, boosting their ranking and increasing their opportunity to receive an ITA.
Candidates in Canada working and living in the country and those with provincial nominations continue to be prioritized in the Express Entry draws. It is to address the labour gaps and to meet the country’s economic needs. This is the tenth PNP-specific selection of 2026 and the twenty-seventh Express Entry draw of 2026.
Through various Express Entry draws, IRCC has now issued more than 72,000 ITAs in 2026. The invitations have been sent across different categories, with Canadian Experience Class candidates receiving the largest number of invitations at 34,250 ITAs.
So far this year, 26,000 candidates received ITAs in the French-language proficiency category, and 4,116 invitations have been granted to candidates in PNP. Healthcare and Social Services category candidates were given 4,000 ITAs, while 3,000 ITAs were sent to candidates in the category of Trades occupations. Candidates in the category for Physicians with Canadian Work Experience received 391 invitations, and 250 candidates were selected from the Senior Managers with Canadian Experience category.
