Canada has introduced a new way for applicants to get a more personalized picture of how long their work permit application may take to process. The updated system is aimed at people in Canada who have applied to extend or change the conditions of their work permits, as well as international graduates applying for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).
Instead of relying only on general processing-time estimates, eligible applicants can now receive information based on their position in the processing queue. The tool provides an estimated wait time and indicates how many applications are ahead of theirs.
The change is intended to give temporary workers and international graduates greater clarity while they wait for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to make a decision. However, the estimates are not guarantees, and actual processing times may vary depending on individual applications.
