Alberta Invites 476 Skilled Workers to Apply for Provincial Nomination

Alberta has invited 476 skilled workers to apply for provincial nomination through the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). The invitations were issued in four draws held between September 24 and October 7, 2026, and targeted priority sector workers, rural job offer holders and workers already employed in the province. The largest draw, held on September 29, invited 200 candidates under the Alberta Express Entry Stream Priority Sectors (General), with a minimum score of 64.

On October 7, the province invited 22 aviation workers through the same stream, with a minimum score of 56. These were Alberta’s first general and aviation priority sector draws of 2026. The province also invited 131 candidates with job offers from designated rural communities under the Rural Renewal Stream, with a minimum score of 51. Another 123 candidates were invited under the Alberta Opportunity Stream, with a minimum score of 54.

Invited candidates may apply for provincial nomination. If they are nominated, they can then apply to the federal government for permanent residence. Nominees already working in Canada may be eligible for a Bridging Open Work Permit, which allows them to keep working while their application is processed. As of October 7, Alberta has issued 5,541 nominations in 2026, about 84% of its annual allocation of 6,603. With limited spaces left this year, eligible candidates may benefit from keeping their profiles up to date.
