The UK Home Office announced that the India Young Professionals Scheme ballot for eligible Indian applicants has opened today. It will remain open until February 19, 2026, at 2:30 PM IST. Under this scheme, select Indian applicants can live, work, and study anywhere in the UK for up to 24 months.
Indian citizens between 18 years and 30 years of age, including those who will turn 18 by the intended date of travel, can apply for the scheme. To be eligible, the applicant should have a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of GBP 2,530. They also should not have dependent children under the age of 18 whom they support.
For Indian graduates seeking work experience abroad, the Young Professionals Scheme is a valuable opportunity. Before submitting the ballots online, the applicants must prepare their document and check all the eligibility criteria.
The entry to the ballot is free, and the successful applicants must later pay the standard visa application fee of GBP 319 as well as the UK Immigration Health Surcharge when they apply for their visa. Once selected in the ballot, the candidate has 90 days to complete the visa application process, including the submission of the biometrics.
Under the scheme, 3000 places have been allocated in 2026, and most of the allocated places are to be filled in this first ballot. The second ballot, which will be the final one, is anticipated to open around July 2026.
