B.C. Gives Eligible Health-Sector Workers More Time to Register for PR Pathway

British Columbia has extended the registration window for a temporary immigration pathway designed to help certain workers in rural and remote communities obtain permanent residence. Eligible workers under the Temporary Rural/Remote Health Support Initiative (TRHSI) can now register until 11:59 p.m. on October 7, 2026.

The initiative is expected to provide a provincial nomination pathway for up to 250 workers employed by eligible B.C. health authorities. Eligible occupations include cleaners, janitors, caretakers and security guards.

Applicants generally need a full-time job offer from a participating B.C. health authority and at least nine months of qualifying full-time work experience with a B.C. health authority before registering.

The province extended the deadline in response to the impact of wildfires on affected communities and workers. So far, 60 candidates have received invitations to apply for provincial nomination under the initiative.
