Canada has revised its immigration processing-time and applicants now face longer waits for permanent residence and citizenship-related services. According to the latest update from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the Federal Skilled Worker Program through Express Entry now has an estimated processing time of seven months, up from six months. Applications for spousal sponsorship from outside Canada and outside Quebec have also increased to 18 months.
At the same time, several categories have seen modest improvements. Processing for spouses or common-law partners applying from within Canada, outside Quebec, has fallen to 26 months, while the Parents and Grandparents Program has dropped to 28 months. For applicants planning to settle in Quebec, parent and grandparent sponsorship now stands at 63 months. Provincial Nominee Program timelines remain unchanged, at seven months for Express Entry-linked applications and 13 months for non-Express Entry applications.
