A new digital tool, AAIP Eligibility Explorer, has been launched by the Government of Alberta. The tool is to help foreign nationals assess whether they may qualify for immigration pathways under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). The tool launched on June 17, 2026, will make it easier for applicants to understand which provincial immigration streams may be suitable for them. It is available through the Alberta government’s AAIP updates webpage.
The online tool guides users through a short questionnaire based on their personal circumstances and immigration goals. Applicants then receive information on AAIP streams that may match their profile and links to review program requirements and submit an Expression of Interest (EOI).
The tool at the beginning asks the prospective candidates to indicate whether they plan to live and work in Alberta (or continue doing so) or whether they intend to start or purchase a business in the province.
For workers a series of questions on the job offers, current residency status, type of work permit, and their National Occupational Classification (NOC) code are asked. Entrepreneur candidates are asked about educational qualifications, available investment capital, and interest in establishing a business in rural Alberta.
The government has emphasized that the tool is solely for guidance, and the results do not determine eligibility for any AAIP stream and do not guarantee that applicants will receive an invitation after submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI).
The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) currently includes

The introduction of the new digital tool is expected to streamline the application process and help prospective candidates quickly identify relevant immigration streams, reduce delays, and lower the likelihood of submitting ineligible applications.
