Canadian job market rebounds!

The Canadian job market is witnessing an incredible surge in the number of job opportunities as Canada is fast recovering from the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic, indicates new data from Statistics Canada. As per the data, the Canadian economy added close to one million jobs in June following the businesses reopened after the shutdowns imposed in the pandemic.

The Employment Rate in Canada

A total of 953,000 jobs were added in June alone and the 290,000 new jobs added in May. Of the total number of new jobs added, almost half came from Ontario and Quebec. While Ontario added 378000 new jobs, Quebec added 248000 new jobs. In British Columbia, the number of new jobs increased by 118000. Among the other provinces, New Brunswick recorded a job gain of 22000, which means almost 97 percent of the jobs it had in the pre-pandemic period.

It must also be pointed out here that all the Canadian provinces added at least a few jobs. The unemployment rate in the country is also showing a downward trend as it remained at 12.3 percent in June.

Canada Job Market Recovering

According to Statistics Canada data, the pandemic negatively affected 5.5 million Canadian jobs in April. While almost three million jobs were gone entirely, 2.5 million jobs had either hours or wages reduced. But in June, the number of people who worked less than the usual hours came down from 34.3 percent to 26.9 percent.

The fast recovery of the Canadian job market from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic gives a ray of hope for new Canadian immigrants and immigration candidates, as they are optimistic about finding a new job in Canada in the changed circumstances.

Canada Express Entry Draws

Similarly, Canada has resumed the all-program Express Entry draws, which means the draws have again started to target the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and the Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC) candidates. During the period since Canada imposed border restrictions in March 2020 in the wake of the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Express Entry draws had been targeting only Canadian Experience Class(CEC) candidates as well as Provincial Nominee Program(PNP) candidates. But last week, Canada resumed all-program draws, which means more candidates currently residing outside Canada will get a chance to migrate to the country. Further, with the Canadian job market emerging strong, the immigration candidates will have more job opportunities by the time they arrive in Canada.
