About Student Visa

Depending upon the program, level, and duration, the visa type may vary for international students. Every international student should require a Student (Subclass 500) Visa regardless of study field, tuition fees, and university. Under the student subclass 500 visa, the visa holders can stay and study during the entire study period. This stay can be up to five years from the date of enrollment. Also, from July 1, 2023, students can work up to 48 hours a fortnight while studying in Australia. However, it is the prime duty of every student to abide by visa regulations to ensure a smooth stay. For more details, you may visit the Australian Government's Department of Home Affairs website.

It ensures the population enjoys a high income level, exceptional health care systems, political stability, and a highly valued education system. However, for international students, knowing the average living costs in Australia is an essential part of your financial preparation.

To get a better idea while planning the budget, consider these most common expenses:

Common Living Expenses

Weekly budget (approx)

Groceries and eating out

$140 to $280

Gas & electricity

$10 to $20

Internet & phone

$15 to $30
