Nova Scotia Immigration 2026: Province Replaces 10 PNP Streams with 4 New Pathways


Nova Scotia reduced its immigration streams from 10 to 4 as of February 18, 2026, under the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP). They are

  • Skilled Worker
  • Nova Scotia Graduate
  • Entrepreneur
  • Nova Scotia: Express Entry

Eligibility requirements for Nova Scotia immigration pathways 2026 remain the same but are now grouped into these broader categories. Existing EOIs will remain unaffected with these changes. 

The Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program update aims to simplify pathways and improve processing for applicants and employers.

Nova Scotia Immigration Pathways 2026

1. Skilled Worker stream

The Nova Scotia skilled worker immigration stream now combines four pathways into a single streamlined program, and they are

  • Skilled Worker
  • Critical Construction Worker Pilot
  • Physicians
  • Occupations in Demand

To qualify for the Nova Scotia skilled worker program Canada, the applicant should:

  • Be aged between 21 and 55.
  • Have a job offer that is full-time from an employer in the province. The candidate should also have the required skills and qualifications.
  • Meet the criteria for work experience:
  • TEER 0–3: at least 1 year of relevant experience
  • TEER 4 or 5: at least 6 months with the employer who has given the job offer
  • Hold a high school diploma.
  • Show enough settlement funds
  • Meet language requirements: CLB 5 for TEER 0–3 jobs and CLB 4 for TEER 4 or 5 jobs

Along with the above requirements an applicant must also meet the requirement of at least one of the Skilled Worker pathways.

Construction Pathway

In this pathway a high school diploma may be waived if the applicant has completed construction-related training. To qualify, the candidate must have a job offer in the construction sector (NAICS 23) in an eligible occupation.

  • Electricians (except industrial and power system) (72200)
  • Heating, refrigeration and air conditioning mechanics (72402)
  • Heavy equipment operators (73400)
  • Heavy-duty equipment mechanics (72401)
  • Home building and renovation managers (70011)
  • Industrial electricians (72201)
  • Material handlers (75101)
  • Other trades helpers and labourers (75119)
  • Plasterers, drywall installers and finishers and lathers (73102)
  • Residential and commercial installers and servicers (73200)
  • Roofers and shinglers (73110)
  • Sheet metal workers (72102)
  • Welders and related machine operators (72106)

Physicians Pathway

In the Physicians Pathway, to qualify, the candidate must have a job offer in an eligible occupation from the Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA) or Izaak Walton Killam Health Centre (IWK). The job offer must confirm that the candidate qualifies for the required professional license and is eligible to apply for institution-based credentials.

  • General practitioners and family physicians (31102)
  • Specialists in clinical and laboratory medicine (31100)
  • Specialists in surgery (31101)

Occupations in Demand Pathway

To be eligible to apply for this pathway, the candidate requires a job offer in a targeted TEER 3, 4, or 5 occupation. As of now no specific occupations have been listed.

2. Nova Scotia Graduate Stream

The Nova Scotia Graduate Stream was previously known as “International Graduates in Demand," and it continues to include a single pathway.

To qualify for Nova Scotia graduate immigration pathway, you should have a job offer that is full-time in an eligible occupation related to your recent studies.

Key requirements to apply:

  • The candidate must be between the age of 19 and 55.
  • Completion of a program at a Nova Scotia institution within the last 3 years
  • Program duration of at least 30 weeks (or 24 weeks for certain roles), with at least 50% completed in Nova Scotia
  • A high school diploma and NS regulatory body certifications for your job
  • Have a minimum language level of CLB 5
  • Proof of sufficient settlement funds

  • Early childhood educators and assistants (42202)
  • Nurse aides and patient service associates (33102)
  • Paramedical professionals (32102)
  • Pharmacy technicians (32124)

3. Nova Scotia: Express Entry Stream

The Nova Scotia: Express Entry Stream was previously known as Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry, and it now includes the pathways

  • Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry
  • Labour Market Priorities
  • Labour Market Priorities for Physicians

Key requirements to qualify for Nova Scotia Express Entry stream

  • The applicant should have an active Express Entry profile.
  • The candidate must be between the age of 21 and 55 years.
  • Have at least 1 year of work experience in Nova Scotia in a TEER 0–3 occupation.
  • Hold a high school diploma.
  • Meet language requirements:
    1. CLB 7 for TEER 0–1
    2. CLB 5 for TEER 2–3

Note:; The candidate must have graduated from a Nova Scotia institution if claiming for post-graduation work permit (PGWP) experience.

Physicians Pathway

  • Job offer (NOC 31100, 31101, or 31102) from NSHA or IWK
  • Get a Letter of Interest (LOI) from the NSNP through the Express Entry.
  • Sign a 2-year return for service agreement.
  • Show sufficient settlement funds.
  • Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) within 30 days of receiving the LOI.

4. Entrepreneur Stream 

The stream encompasses the pathways

  • Entrepreneur
  • International Graduate Entrepreneur

Key requirements to qualify for Nova Scotia entrepreneur immigration program

  • The candidate must be at least 21 years old
  • Intend to own and actively manage a business in Nova Scotia
  • Meet financial requirements:
    1. Halifax area: $600,000 net worth and investment
    2. Outside Halifax: $400,000 net worth and investment
  • Have business experience:
    1. 3 years as an owner (minimum 1/3 ownership), or
    2. 5 years in senior management
  • CLB 5 in English or French

International Graduate Pathway

To qualify for Nova Scotia immigration for international graduates

  • The candidate should hold a valid PGWP
  • Have at least 1 year of experience in managing and owning a Nova Scotia business (minimum 1/3 ownership)
  • Must complete a degree or diploma from a full-time, minimum 2-year program at a Nova Scotia institution
  • CLB 7 language proficiency
